Fact # 8) We know What (some) of those Genes Do.

• Tentative assignments of gene function have been made for about half of the genes identified in the Human DNA sequence.

• However, the functions of about half of the genes discovered in the project are still unknown, and the exact functions of many of the "known" genes is not completely clear.
