Fact # 7) Who's Biggest?

• In most functional categories, Humans have more genes than the other organisms whose genome have been sequenced. There is, however, one big exception, shown below. Can you spot it?

• The exception is the number of genes for "metabolism." As you can see from the diagram above, the "mustard weed" (Arabidopsis) has a larger number of metabolic genes than any animal sequenced to date, including humans. It seems as though plants display more metabolic complexity than animals.
